The Fraser Fir is one of America's favorite Christmas Trees. Named after a Scottish botanist, John Fraser who explored the southern Appalachian Mountains in the late 18 th century, the dark blue-green pyramid shaped tree is well known for its long lasting needle retention, nice aroma and strong branches that can support even the heaviest of ornaments.
The Fraser Fir tree flourished only in the Southern Appalachians; it's naturally habit, growing at elevations from 3000 of 4500 feet in Southwestern Virginia, western North Carolina and into parts of eastern TN. It's even been known to prosper on Mount Mitchell, NC where elevation reach 6500 feet plus. It is estimated that North Carolina has over 50 million Fraser Firs in the ground and Virginia over 7 million.
The Fraser Fir is the most sought after Christmas tree in the United States and is shipped to all 50 states as well as the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, Japan and various other locations throughout the world. Fraser Fir trees can be found at garden centers, choose and cuts farms and retail lots.
